Amyn's Commitment

My allegiance will always be to the people of Colleyville. I strive for a local government that will serve our constituents above all; our families, parents, children, and our beloved aging community who have built this city. I will make it a priority to collaborate closely with GCISD to provide the best for our children, achieving academic excellence and providing a safe and secure learning environment. As thousands of our tax dollars continue to to be wasted on vanity projects, I will challenge any city project that does not benefit all of us as residents. A community for us, by us.

Moving Colleyville Forward

My vision is to ascend Colleyville into the future while maintaining the vibrant small town feel. I plan to prioritize the growth of our economy, and strive for Colleyville to become a magnet for family businesses, and start-ups, while ensuring current businesses have the opportunity to succeed. I will collaborate with local city officials to strategically design and plan for how the city positions itself long-term for sustainability and prosperity. Finally, I will fight to ensure our residents enjoy a great quality of life, top-tier education opportunities, open spaces, and an inclusive community that welcomes all.

MEET AMYN

Amyn began his career serving in the United States Air Force as an intelligence analyst, serving at the National Security Agency and a deployment to Iraq in 2007 supporting Operation Iraqi Freedom. After military service, he advised various federal agencies and the Intelligence Community on cybersecurity, surveillance, and national security matters. He later moved to the private sector leading cybersecurity operations at Goldman Sachs. He’s currently an executive at a tech start-up.

He holds a bachelor’s degree from University of Maryland and a master’s degree from Johns Hopkins University. He’s also a Fellow at the National Security Institute at the George Mason Law School.

He and his wife are raising two boys, Ezra (4) and Eli (1). Sana is a math teacher at HEB ISD and Ezra is a rising pre-kindergartner at Bransford Elementary — which he’s very excited about! They’re also parents to their loving dog, Einstein.

Core Values

Community Safety

Support law enforcement with investment towards technology, training, and community outreach programs

I’m a strong advocate for our police and fire departments. In order to protect our current investment, I will advocate for more training and technology so that our law enforcement teams can do their jobs more effectively and efficiently.

Support Local Businesses

Ensure that Colleyville is enabling local businesses to succeed and attracting innovative companies to the city

We are constantly seeing new businesses arrive in Colleyville only to be replaced with ‘For Lease’ signs just months later. Families are risking their livelihood to invest their capital into opening businesses here and Colleyville needs them to succeed.

Fiscal Responsibility

Promote financial transparency, end wasteful spending, and invest in sustainable and usable infrastructure

Though we’ve seen property taxes level off the past two years after having recently skyrocketed, but because of questionable budgeting practices and priorities implemented by the current Council, the welcomed tax reprieve we’ve seen is unfortunately…

Economic Prosperity

Ensure that Colleyville is enabling local businesses to succeed and attracting innovative companies and premium retail stores to the city

We are constantly seeing new businesses arrive in Colleyville only to be replaced with ‘For Lease’ signs just months later. A successful business ecosystem in Colleyville means that residents also prosper by enjoying lower tax rates, and the City Council must provide more support and tools for local businesses to flourish. With my entrepreneurial background in tech start-ups, I have the business acumen and insight to attract high-revenue generating tech businesses with low infrastructure footprint to promote a more prosperous economy.  More people will also visit Colleyville if we attract high-end retail and fine dining. In order to elevate our tax base, Colleyville must become a destination city.

Accessibility

Promote a more inclusive and accessible city with an emphasis to support our disabled and growing population of senior residents by listening and addressing our community’s needs

By next year nearly a quarter of our citizens will be age 65 and over, and within 5 years after that it will grow to nearly 40%. Colleyville’s senior residents deserve to live without worry of the impact of property values and tax rates on one’s annual taxes paid to the City. Therefore as your elected City Councilman, I will support a new homestead exemption on residential property, and will ensure current property tax exemptions for seniors are protected.

Partnerships

Work with our Senate and House Representatives to advocate for Colleyville’s success, and partner closely with GCISD to provide our children the best.

We need to work closely with our neighboring elected officials so that we can advocate for state funding to improve our roads quickly and enhance economic development. Congresswoman Beth Van Duyne granted Southlake $8.5M to support infrastructure uplifts. Meanwhile, Colleyville received nothing. We must build relationships and fight for our city.

Public Health

Provide resources for residents on how to obtain COVID-19 vaccine and plan to safely and quickly return to work, school, and normal life by adhering to the CDC guidelines

As of early February, Colleyville tragically lost 7 residents to COVID-19, which is way too many. The pandemic is not a political issue and government officials are responsible to clearly inform the public on pandemic developments based on scientific data.  My goal is to ensure that the residents have access to information and resources on the virus, vaccine, and vaccination locations.
